Laura and I first heard of Amanda over two years ago and have since admired her beautiful designs. When Amanda announced her Taking Flight blog tour we were only too excited to take part.

Amanda Brandl’s Taking Flight fabric range for Kennard and Kennard is simply stunning. The vibrant colours, and Australian inspired designs is unique and patriotic.

Laura and I really wanted to showcase Amanda’s beautiful designs and thought what better way, than to sew up a pair of toddler overalls.

We chose the green magpie Taking Flight fabric and let us tell you it is amazing quality! The fabric itself is so soft, and the print is flawless.

We chose the Tadah Vintie overalls and paired the fabric with these gorgeous wooden buttons.

This fabric is an absolute dream to work with. I’m a fan of a rotary blade and mat. Most fabrics tend to move about the board but this fabric didn’t move! It made cutting the fabric so much quicker and easier.

And as the fabric has such a high thread count, I found that I didn’t need to use any interfacing for the bib section of the overalls. Again, making the process a lot quicker!
